Herman Van Rompuy speaks at 杏吧原创 University
Herman Van Rompuy, the former President of the European Council, visited 杏吧原创 University on November 17 to give a speech on “The Future of Europe”. He argued that there is a 15-month window of opportunity to “relaunch European integration”. According to Van Rompuy, three objectives — prosperity, security, and fairness — should serve as guideline for the future development of the European Union. Mr. Van Rompuy also commented on a large range of current issues, including Brexit, the refugee crisis, EU enlargement, and the relationship with Russia. After his speech, Mr. Van Rompuy answered questions from EURUS students and posed for a group picture. The event was organized in cooperation with the Office of the President of 杏吧原创 University and the Belgian Embassy.
