Rod Phillips Gives Keynote Paper in France
Professor Rod Phillips gave the keynote paper at a conference held at the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne in Bordeaux, France, 17-19 October. The conference was: Monde du vin, r茅seaux et 茅chelles: Interm茅diation dans la production, distribution et la consommation du vin/Wine worlds, networks and scales: Intermediation in the production, distribution and consumption of wine.
It drew participants from throughout Europe, as well as the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Professor Phillips鈥檚 paper was entitled, 鈥淣egotiating God, the weather, and merchants: the priest of Volnay (Burgundy) and the wine business in the 18th century鈥/鈥漈raiter avec Dieu, la m茅t茅o et les n茅gociants: le cur茅 de Volnay et le march茅 du vin au XVIIIe si猫cle.鈥
It was drawn from a book he is writing on the history of wine and place in Burgundy.
