What to Expect from Employer Information Sessions听
Career Services hosts employer information sessions throughout the academic year to give students the opportunity to connect with professionals in their field(s) of interest and explore career options. Employers host sessions for both students and new graduates interested in learning more about the organization, including:听

- service or product overviews听
- workplace culture听
- hiring process and practices听
- tips for career development听
Tips for Success 听
Check out a few tips to help you prepare for your upcoming information session. 听

- Review the session鈥檚 description and search for any jobs posted by the organization on the Career Services Job Board on mySuccess or the organization鈥檚 website.听
- Familiarize yourself with the organization by reviewing relevant information you can find online. You should search for material that will provide you with a basic understanding of the organization鈥檚 products/
- Based on your research, you can prepare a list of relevant questions you would like to ask the employer. Try to focus on topics beyond what you can find on their website. For example, 鈥淗ow are you leveraging AI in your workplace?鈥 or 鈥淲hat does an entry-level versus a more senior role look like?鈥 or 鈥淲hat are the biggest organizational priorities at the moment?鈥澨
- Have your resume reviewed by Career Services prior to the session. This will ensure you are ready to apply for any roles you learn about during the session. 听
- Prepare an elevator pitch and include the following information: what you are studying, when you will graduate, your key strengths, and career interests.听
- Update your LinkedIn profile in case you would like to connect with the employer immediately after the session.听听

- We recommend students dress in when attending in-person sessions.听
- Be prepared to introduce yourself using your elevator pitch and ask thoughtful questions about the organization or potential roles available. All sessions will provide the opportunity to network with employer representatives.听
- When closing your conversation with the employer, thank them for their time and offer your resume, if it feels appropriate. You may also ask for their contact information to follow up by email.听

- Send a short email to follow up with the employer within a week of the session to reiterate your interest in their organization and potential career opportunities that exist or to simply thank them for their time if no specific opportunities currently exist.听
- Directly connect with the employer you spoke with on LinkedIn and be sure to follow the organization鈥檚 page as well to view job postings or pertinent announcements that the organization put out on the platform.听
