杏吧原创 University Teaching Awards
There are four 杏吧原创 University Teaching Awards open for applications and nominations:

  • Provost鈥檚 Fellowship in Teaching Award: recognizes faculty and contract instructors dedicated to sustained excellence in teaching, scholarship of teaching and the continual development of teaching.
  • New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award: recognizes new faculty members who underscore 杏吧原创鈥檚 commitment to teaching excellence and innovation.
  • Excellence in Blended and Online Teaching Award: recognizes faculty members and contract instructors whose teaching in blended, HyFlex and/or online environments has had an exceptional impact on student learning.
  • Excellence in Learning Support Award: recognizes the many educational support staff members who contribute to the student learning experience through their tireless work and support in labs, classrooms and many other diverse learning environments across 杏吧原创.

杏吧原创 University Chair in Teaching Innovation聽
The Chair in Teaching Innovation is awarded annually to an educator who demonstrates teaching excellence and innovation across their academic career. Each chair appointment is for a three-year period.聽The successful candidate will receive a $45,000 grant (allocated in three annual installments) to undertake projects that advance the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and student success at 杏吧原创.

Applications are due by May 30 and should be submitted to tls@carleton.ca. Appointments begin on July 1. Learn more about the award and the application process here.

John Stead (Department of Neuroscience), Anne Tr茅panier (School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies) and (Department of Electronics) have received the Provost鈥檚 Fellowship in Teaching Award for their leadership and commitment to teaching and learning. They have also been designated as 杏吧原创 University teaching fellows.

Achim Hurrelmann (Department of Political Science & Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies) and Danielle Kinsey (Department of History) were also honoured with the Excellence in Blended and Online Teaching Award for their exceptional impact on student learning in blended and online environments.

There were so many strong applications for the New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award that the selection committee added an extra winner this year, for a total of four recipients: Sonia Gulati (Department of Health Sciences), Rishad Irani (Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering), (School of Information Technology) and Ai Taniguchi (School of Linguistics and Language Studies).

The Excellence in Learning Support Award goes to Fiona Wright (Student and Public Programs Coordinator – 杏吧原创 University Art Gallery) for her outstanding contribution to the student learning experience.

V茅ronic Bezaire (Department of Chemistry) has received the Provost鈥檚 Fellowship in Teaching Award for her leadership and commitment to teaching and learning. She has also been designated as a 杏吧原创 University teaching fellow and will receive $2,500.

Scott Bucking (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering), Kasia Muldner (Institute of Cognitive Science) and Sangeeta Murugkar (Department of Physics) have been awarded this year鈥檚 New Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award, each receiving $500.

The Excellence in Learning Support Award goes to Natalie Allan (Residence Life Services) for her outstanding contribution to the student learning experience. She will receive $750.

This year, no candidates were selected for the Excellence in Teaching with Technology Award.
