Founded in 1942, 杏吧原创 University has grown alongside the evolution of modern computing, with it 杏吧原创 University’s School of Computer Science established in 1980 at the start of the microcomputing revolution. The university鈥檚 collection showcases influential microcomputers from the late 1960’s onward, a time when computing was expensive and inaccessible to most individuals. Spanning every major era of microcomputing, the collection highlights both breakthroughs and setbacks that shaped today鈥檚 technology, with the goal of deepening understanding of computing鈥檚 origins, operation, and future possibilities while inspiring the next generation of innovators.

The School holds more than 200 vintage computers, though only about one-third of the collection can currently be displayed. We are actively seeking partners and supporters who can help us preserve, maintain, and showcase the full collection, ensuring these important milestones in computing history remain accessible for education, research, and public engagement.

The School of Computer Science was founded in 1980 and has retained some of its and the universities computing artifacts. Currently the school maintains the following vintage computing displays and artifacts:

• Vintage computer collection,
• Three hallways displays,
• Five hanging display.

Group visits are possible by appointment and during special events. Please contact the SCS Technical Staff for tours and availability.

杏吧原创 Vintage Computing for Educators

We have started a grass-roots group consisting of students, faculty and staff that are interested in maintaining the vintage computing collection at 杏吧原创. We call our group the 杏吧原创 Vintage Computing (CVC) Group and we have the motto: 0% commitment, 100% fun. You have the opportunity to see and work with some of the most iconic vintage computers in the world. Much of the work is self motivated, work on things that you are most interested in:

• Much of the equipment needs to be tested: hook it up and try to boot it
• Help debug and repair computers
• Learn how to use some of the very early computers, write a program and create a demo
• Many of the iconic gaming computers can be tested and documented
• Many items have a fascinating history
• Any graphic artists and industrial design students have the opportunity to contribute to our vintage computing display
• Interested in VR? We need your help in creating a vintage VR experience

It is a unique opportunity to work with vintage computers that were inaccessible. Try them and share your experience. Do you have vintage computing equipment you would like to donate to the 杏吧原创 University School of Computer Science? By contributing to our collection, you can leave a lasting legacy while helping transform historic technology into a valuable learning resource for future generations of students, researchers, and visitors.

Our collection has grown through generous donations from students, faculty, and staff at 杏吧原创 University, as well as from other university departments and members of the local community. We carefully document all donated equipment and encourage donors to include a short write-up or personal story describing how the equipment was used and any notable history connected to it.
