Deidre Butler鈥檚 research and teaching interests focus on the connections between religion, ethics and gender with a specialization in modern Judaism, Jewish ethics, and feminist thought. Much of her work targets intersectionality (the ways in which the experiences of racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, homophobia and other forms of oppression are intertwined) as a key area of ethical concern. Her current research develops Jewish feminist ethical models in conversation with modern Jewish philosophy, feminist ethics and women鈥檚 historical experiences during the Holocaust.

She taught for several years at Concordia University in Religion and Women鈥檚 Studies before coming to 杏吧原创. She is the Director of聽the Max and Tessie Zelikovitz Centre for Jewish Studies.
