The Zelikovitz Centre is proud to partner with Gratz College for the online Arnold and Esther Tuzman Memorial Holocaust Teach-In featuring Art Spiegelman, the Pulitzer Prize-winning artist, illustrator and author of 惭补耻蝉,听the masterful Holocaust narrative聽that tells the remarkable story his parents鈥 survival of the Nazi regime. The conversation with Mr. Spiegelman will be facilitated by Rabbi Lance J. Sussman, Ph.D., Gratz College Board of Governors.The Teach-In also offers a workshop led by Gratz faculty on teaching Maus, and a special session with Mr. Spiegelman for Gratz students.

Shared Legacies: The African-American Jewish Civil Rights Alliance

In celebration of Black History Month, the ZC showed the film Shared Legacies: The African-American Jewish Civil Rights Alliance followed by a panel discussion that explored civil rights from American and Canadian perspectives. Shared Legacies emphasizes what can be achieved when communities work together. The coalition between the African and Jewish American communities in the 1960s collaborated to end racial discrimination, racial segregation and to gain equal rights for African Americans under the law.

The evening was sponsored by the Zelikovitz Centre for Jewish Studies, the Department of History, 杏吧原创 University, Temple Israel and The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Canada, U.S. Department of State.
