杏吧原创 University, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, in collaboration with Pingalwara Society of Ontario, are hosting a symposium titled:

Religion, Society and Social Consciousness:聽Investigating Religiously Inspired and Organized Community Service and Social Movements

Dr. Deidre Butler, Director of the Zelikovitz Centre, will be giving a talk titled – “To Mend the World: Jewish Feminism and Tikkun Olam”

The theme of the symposium is to study religious inspired initiatives aimed to serve the needy members of society, such as the sick, disabled, hungry, poor, or neglected. 聽Furthermore, the symposium鈥檚 objective is to understand the concept of聽Service聽as inspired by the teachings and principles of a particular faith and how this translates into the聽Service聽of humanity.

Research papers from the Sikh, Jewish and Christian perspective will be presented.

The symposium is scheduled for October 16, 2017 (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)聽at River Building – 2220, Richcraft Hall, 杏吧原创 University, Ottawa.
