Canada Life: Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) Update

The government of Ontario has the OHIP coverage for out-of-country (OOC) emergency hospital, health facility and doctor services retroactively to Jan. 1, 2020. The reinstatement includes the same reimbursement rates and the same coverage criteria that existed prior to the cancellation of the OHIP out-of-country Travelers’ program earlier in 2020.
What you need to know
Going forward, when submitting OOC claims to Canada Lifeâ„¢ you’ll be required to complete the Provincial third-party agreement form () in addition to the Statement of claim out-of-country expense form for all eligible OOC emergency medical expenses if you’re an Ontario resident.
