Facilitator Role
Facilitators prepare and lead weekly workshops for 20-30 students taking one course.
Preparing for workshops includes attending the course lecture, reviewing the readings, and preparing a workshop plan.
With support from their team leader, Facilitators design workshop activities that help students to review course material while developing effective academic skills and habits.
The goal is for students to learn how to learn and be ready to tackle university independently after ESP.
Duties and Pay
Facilitators work an average of 10-12 hours a week.
The rate of pay for new facilitators is $23/hour.

Academic Qualifications
Overall CGPA of 8.0
CGPA of 9.0 in the discipline you’re applying to facilitate
At least 2.0 credits in the discipline you’re applying to facilitate (cross-listed courses may apply)
ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ undergraduate (at least 3rd year) or graduate student in the upcoming year
Completion of at least one year’s study at ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ University
Prior enrolment with the professor who is to teach the course is an asset
Mandatory Training & Orientation 2026-2027 (in person)
Some preparation for training is required in August (approx. 10 hours of reading and paperwork). This can be completed online on your own time.
Pre-service training and orientation: full days Sept. 2, Sept. 3, Sept. 4 and the morning of Sept. 8, in person. Facilitators must attend all training sessions.
In-service training: Fridayevenings, in person on Sept 18, Oct 2, Nov 6, Nov 27, Jan 8 and Feb 5. Facilitators must attend all training sessions.
All preparation and training hours are paid at the regular rate.

Which courses can I apply for?
You can apply to facilitate any course in a subject area where you have completed at least 2.0 credits.
If you have taken the exact course(s), your application will be stronger – but this is not required.
You may apply for as many courses as you meet the credit requirement for.
If you have taken any courses which you know are cross-listed with other subject disciplines, please note that in your application.
Important Notes
All Facilitator positions are for the full academic year (Fall and Winter terms).
Many courses are offered as Fall-Winter pairs (for example, SOCI 1001 and SOCI 1002). In a few cases, courses may be mixed and matched across different subject areas (for example, CGSC 1001 and PHIL 1301).
All positions are contingent on enrolment and budgetary approval.

Submit your written reflections (Note: ANTH 1001 & 1002 candidates will complete a different process; instructions will be given once applications have been received. You may disregard the instructions below for this task):
Between approximately April 28 – May 22, selected candidates will receive a personalized link to complete written reflections to accompany their application form.
We will use these reflections to determine which candidates will move on to Group Interviews.
You will have a maximum of seven (7) days to complete your written reflections once you are sent the link, so please keep a close eye on your ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ email!
