Alexander Grammatikos
Instructor
- PhD English (ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´, 2017)
I am an Instructor at Langara College in Vancouver, B.C. (on unceded Musqueam territory). I study nineteenth-century politics and culture. One of my main interests is examining the poet Lord Byron’s relationship with Greece.
How has your ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ English degree informed your professional and/or creative path?
I received my position at Langara College one month after I completed my Ph.D. My doctorate from ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ led directly to a job for me.
Why ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´? What specific experiences or opportunities did you benefit from while studying English at ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´?
I had an amazing time at ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ and that is in large part thanks to my supervisor Paul Keen and advisors Julie Murray and Andrew Wallace. All three were so generous with their time and knowledge; they made me a better scholar over the course of my Ph.D.
My Ph.D. peers — too many to name here — also contributed to my positive graduate school experience. We were a team, and I am grateful to all of them.
