Published in June by Stanford University Press, Murray’s study recovers a Wollstonecraft who feels uncertain about the progressive聽modernity she is otherwise entirely identified with as champion and cheerleader. Revealing that feminism and global modernity have been at odds for over two hundred years, Murray reclaims Wollstonecraft as an astute critic of Western feminism.
