Meet the 2026-2027 Team

Nareen

Nareen is an experienced graduate student with a longstanding connection to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Computer Science and her areas of interest encompass a diverse range of subjects, including Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), network and Internet security, authentication systems and system behaviour. Her research endeavors to comprehend and resolve security and privacy challenges that affect various components of the internet, the interconnected networks and systems and the users who rely upon them.

Nareen Khurshid

Georgia

Georgia is a PhD candidate in the School of Information Technology at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University. She has Bachelor degree in Biosystems Engineering with a Biomedical Specialization from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Applied Science in HCI degree from ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University. Her research focus is on wearable technology and its applications in video game accessibility. Georgia is passionate about inclusivity and community, and fills this passion both in her studies and in her hobby of running a Discord server for Ottawa and Gatineau area cosplayers and cosplay photographers. 

Georgia Loewen

Aroosha

Aroosha’s interest in engineering and biology led her to earn her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran, Iran. Pursuing her passion for biomedical engineering, she began her PhD studies in the Biomedical Engineering program at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University in September 2022. Her research focuses on engineering 3D tumor models using a 3D bioprinter to evaluate the behavior of immune cells within the tumor environment. Outside of her academic pursuits, Aroosha enjoys hiking and spending time in nature.

Rhea

Rhea is a PhD candidate in Building Engineering, specializing in Heritage Conservation. Her research is dedicated to understanding the aging of historical masonry structures, with the goal of ensuring their safety for generations to come. Rhea received her Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering (BEng) from McGill University in 2020 and her Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (MEng) from ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University in 2022. Rhea looks forward to connecting with the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ Engineering community and providing support to fellow women in STEM.

Rhea Wilson

Akhila

Akhila’s fascination with how machines think and adapt has shaped her path in intelligent electrical systems. This curiosity took her from a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering in India to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University, where she completed her Master of Engineering. In January 2026, she joined ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´’s Electrical and Computer Engineering program as an MASc. candidate. Today, her research combines machine learning and finite element analysis to detect and diagnose faults in electric motors, working toward more reliable and resilient motor systems.

Akhila Monaghan

Celeste

Celeste holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from McGill University and began her Master of Applied Science in September 2025.  She is studying Aerospace Engineering at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University, in collaboration with the National Research Council of Canada’s Low Emission Aviation Program.  Passionate about advancing sustainable aviation, her research focuses on optimizing the integration of hydrogen fuel cell systems into a regional, fixed-wing aircraft.  Beyond her love of aviation, Celeste adores outdoor adventures – especially when camping is involved.

Celeste Borjeau
