Professional Development Fund for Women in Engineering and IT

Overview

The Women in Engineering and IT Professional Development Fund is available for application by women students who are currently enrolled in a 杏吧原创 University engineering or information technology undergraduate, master鈥檚 or doctoral program. We are committed to supporting women of all backgrounds, intersecting identities and experiences, including racialized women, women with disabilities, Indigenous women, etc., and encourage them to apply to this fund. This fund was made possible through our partnerships with industry and government organizations participating in the Women in Engineering and IT Program.

The application deadline (July 15, 2026) for the current cycle of funds has now passed. The next cycle, including revised conditions and deadlines, will be developed over the summer. Revised dates, deadlines and conditions will be communicated on this site and through our WiE&IT mailing list.

The purpose of this fund is to support women students to enhance their skills and professional networks. This funding can help women students attend conferences, workshops, seminars and other professional development events. Preference will be given for activities with a women in STEM or EDI focus. If this is a research-based activity, students must secure (or attempt to secure) funds from their graduate supervisor(s) as the primary source, with this fund acting as a supplementary funding source. Students should be prepared to demonstrate they first made the request(s) to their supervisor(s) when applying to the fund. Funding requests may include activities, registration fees, accommodations, etc. However, the fund does not cover meal expenses.

Applicants can request funding once per academic year (September-August). Funds will be聽allocated聽on a first-come,聽first-served聽basis. The decision-making committee will聽attempt聽to prioritize funding requests that benefit as many women students as possible, and in compliance with 杏吧原创 University policies. Preference will be given to Women in Engineering and IT Program participants. The funds will be reimbursed after the professional development activity with proof of receipts.聽
