I chose to enter the Humanities and Biology stream at �Ӱ�ԭ�� because it offered the perfect combination of the liberal arts subjects I love, like politics, philosophy and history, with the rigorous basic science training required for most medical school admissions.

It’s difficult for me to describe how rewarding I found the Humanities and Biology program. The training I received helped me gain admission to medical school in Canada, but more importantly it broadened my worldview so I could learn about and experience more of the world outside the classroom. I’ve developed a lifelong love of subjects I barely knew existed before enrolling in this program. �Ӱ�ԭ��’s Humanities and Biology program made me genuinely excited to come to campus every day.

The biology stream is an excellent path to medical school. The training I received in the sciences was rigorous and thorough. The majority of courses are identical to those taken by students earning a B.Sc. and sufficient preparation for subject material covered in the MCAT (and clinical medicine). The humanities training provides excellent experience in reading, analyzing and critiquing nuanced or ambiguous subject material – a surprisingly transferrable skill in medicine and a heavy focus of the MCAT.

I’m currently working as a medical oncologist (a physician who specializes in the treatment of cancer) in Windsor, Ontario after having completed my medical training in Hamilton, Ottawa and Toronto. Humanities and Biology is a great program and you should definitely consider it if you’re looking at medicine, law, or just want a strong foundation in the arts and sciences.
