What was your experience like in the program and how has your degree helped your career?
I loved the program because I got to spend four years wrestling with questions humans have been asking for thousands of years, without realizing how useful that would become when it was my turn to live in interesting times.
My career has since taken me through intelligence, national security, international policing and peace operations, from Haiti and Ukraine to the Pacific Islands and the Middle East. The problems have changed, but the questions are remarkably familiar: how to navigate uncertainty, exercise power well, make good judgments with imperfect information, and what we owe each other.
More than anything, it gave me a way to make sense of the work, the institutions around it, and my own place within them.
