�Ӱ�ԭ��

A student may have their Language Requirement waived if they are already proficient in a Modern Language at the Intermediate level, as demonstrated by either:

• French immersion: Students who have successfully completed Grade 12 French immersion or the equivalent at a Canadian high school. Grade 12 core French is not sufficient for an exemption.
  
  Documentation required:  Diploma, transcript or DELF Certficate. Students who test at above FREN 1100 may also waive their language.  Forward the email confirming French Placement Test to collegeofhumanities@cunet.carleton.ca and make sure your name, program and �Ӱ�ԭ�� ID are included.
• Secondary school language of instruction: Students whose secondary school transcripts show that their primary language of instruction in secondary school was a language other than English.
  
  Documentation required:  Diploma and or transcript.
• Proficient speakers: Students who do not qualify under either of the first two categories, but who nonetheless are able to demonstrate proficiency in a language other than English, may be granted a Language Waiver. For languages taught at �Ӱ�ԭ��, “proficiency” means a level at least equivalent to the Intermediate level. For languages not taught at �Ӱ�ԭ��, “proficiency” means a level at least equivalent to two full years of university level language study.
  
  Documentation required:  Certification from a recognized language testing authority or through a Placement Test result equivalent to the Intermediate level or above.
