Bigger and Wong Apart of The Nine 杏吧原创 University Projects Receive Funding from NSERC Alliance COVID-19 Grants
Nine 杏吧原创 University projects received a total of $450,000 from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Alliance COVID-19 Grants to support a broad range of work, involving collaborations with the public, not-for-profit sectors and industry to address pandemic-related research and technical challenges.
鈥淒uring this global pandemic, 杏吧原创 researchers have taken swift action to collaborate with partners in all sectors to find innovative ways to secure the wellness of Canadians,鈥 said Rafik Goubran, vice-president (Research and International). 鈥淲e thank NSERC for their timely support of these vital projects.鈥
- Kyle Biggar, professor in the聽Department of Biology, in partnership with Zim Corporation, for the project聽COVID-19: Annotating and Controlling the Inter-Species Protein Interactome through the Development of Peptide Inhibitors for SARS-CoV-2 and Human Protein Interactions.
- Alex Wong, professor in the聽Department of Biology, in partnership with Arkalumen Inc and the Children鈥檚 Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), for the project聽Evaluation of Ultraviolet-C Decontamination of Medical Masks During the COVID-19 Crisis.
