Dr. Bruin’s research aims to better understand what environmental factors contribute to the onset and development of diabetes.
Her lab has recently discovered a relationship between gender and environmental pollutants.
鈥淏asically, females seem like they don鈥檛 adapt well to metabolic stress if they鈥檝e had exposure to this pollutant and we don鈥檛 see the same thing in males,鈥 Bruin says.
