GRADUATE AND HONOURS THESIS SUPERVISION

Dr. Kevin Nunes plans to accepts new graduate students (1-2 students) and honours thesis students (1-2 students) to start in September 2027. If you are interested in thesis supervision, please submit an application by the due date set by �Ӱ�ԭ�� University. I will review the applications I receive by the due date and then make acceptance decisions. Below is an outline of some things I consider when selecting students:

HONOURS STUDENT

• GPA of 10.5 or higher
• Grades of A or higher in statistics and research methods courses
• Compatibility of student’s research interests with the research questions and methodology focus of the lab

MASTERS STUDENT

• GPA Of A or higher to be competitive for external scholarships (e.g., SSHRC, OGS)
• Honours thesis
• Evidence of genuine interest in and aptitude for research in general (e.g., grades of A or higher in statistics and research methods courses)
• Compatibility of student’s research interests with the research questions and methodology focus of the lab
• Conscientious, resourceful, motivated
• Critical thinking
• Research activity and potential for research productivity (e.g., previous volunteer or paid work experience in a lab)
• Applied for eligible external scholarships to fund first year of grad school. This would mean the student applied to �Ӱ�ԭ�� for SSHRC and OGS in the fall of 2026 and would receive the funding－if successful－starting in September 2027

PhD STUDENT

• GPA of A or higher to be competitive for external scholarships (e.g., SSHRC, OGS)
• Masters thesis
• Past external scholarship (e.g., SSHRC, OGS)
• Evidence of genuine interest in and aptitude for research in general (e.g., grades of A or higher in statistics and research methods courses)
• Compatibility of student’s research interests and aptitude with the research questions and methodology focus of the lab
• Conscientious, resourceful, motivated
• Critical thinking
• Previous research activity and potential for research productivity (e.g., publications, conference presentations)
• Applied for eligible external scholarships to fund first year of grad school. This would mean the student applied to �Ӱ�ԭ�� for SSHRC and OGS in the fall of 2026 and would receive the funding－if successful－starting in September 2027
