This fall, there are three great options for faculty, instructors and PhD candidates to take advantage of whether you’re looking for something new or tried and true.

Are you a faculty member or instructor looking to develop your skills and build your confidence to teach blended and online courses? Now is the time to take advantage of our Certificate in Blended and Online Teaching, the first program of its kind in Ontario. You’ll develop a plan for designing an online course and create an online module for an upcoming course. You’ll also learn how to engage and motivate students in online learning environments and evaluate available educational technologies in relation to learning outcomes. This program will run Wednesdays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. beginning September 24 and ending December 3.*

A cornerstone of EDC programming, this program is facilitated by 3M teaching fellow, Dr. Anthony Marini. It features a microteaching component and gives faculty and instructors the opportunity to develop a framework to design lectures, develop effective assessment strategies and identify ways to enhance student engagement in their classes. This program will run on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. beginning September 23 and ending December 2.*

Specifically geared towards PhD candidates who are preparing for a career in academia, this program gives participants hands-on experience with a range of teaching and assessment methods, teaches them to manage both large and small classes, and addresses teaching and learning issues particular to their disciplines. This program will run Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m., starting October 1 and ending December 3.*

For more information on these certificate programs and to register,  or contact us at edc@carleton.ca, 613-520-4433.
