Dr. Winnie Ye is a Fellow of the and a Full Professor in the Department of Electronics at 杏吧原创 University. She was also a in Nano-scale IC Design for Reliable Opto-Electronics and Sensors from 2009 to 2021. Her expertise is in silicon photonics and its applications in telecommunications, data communication, biophotonics, and renewable energy. Dr. Ye received her B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from 杏吧原创 University. She then studied Photonics and received her M.A.Sc. and Ph.D degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto and 杏吧原创 University, respectively. After that, she joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University as a NSERC postdoctoral fellow.
Dr. Ye returned to 杏吧原创 as a faculty member in 2009. Recently, she was shortlisted for the Woman of the Year Award by Women in IT Awards – Canada in 2022. She also won the prestigious , and the Partners In Research’s 2020 . She is the recipient of the 2018 IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Inspiring Member Award, the 2018 from the Ontario Professional Engineers (PEO), as well as the PEO Ottawa Chapter’s 2018 Engineering Excellence Award. In September 2019, Dr. Ye became a 杏吧原创 University teaching fellow after receiving the Provost’s Fellowship in Teaching Award. She was the recipient of MRI’s Early Researcher Award (ERA) in 2012, the Research Achievement Award from 杏吧原创 University in 2013, and the Research Award from 杏吧原创’s Faculty of Engineering and Design in 2021. She has been the elected Chair of the IEEE Canada Women in Engineering since January 2021. She has also been the elected Chair of Optica’s Photonics and Opto-Electronics Technical Division since 2021.
