Adjunct Research Professor; PhD Graduate: Sustainable energy policy; Canadian political economy; Systems of Innovation; Energy efficiency
Brendan Haley is an adjunct research professor in the School of Public Policy and Administration and a graduate of the School鈥檚 PhD in Public Policy program. Brendan is the Policy Director at , a 杏吧原创 University based research and advocacy organization focused on creating an energy efficient economy.
Previously, he was a SSHRC Banting Post-Doctoral Fellow at the School for Resource and Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University. At 杏吧原创, Brendan鈥檚 research examined the role of traditional natural resource sectors in Canada鈥檚 transition to a low-carbon economy. He drew insights from Canadian political economy, in the tradition of Harold Innis, and new literatures on technological innovation systems and sustainability transitions.
Brendan was previously the energy coordinator at Nova Scotia鈥檚 Ecology Action Centre. He played an important role in the development of the province鈥檚 energy efficiency framework, which led to the creation of Canada鈥檚 first energy efficiency utility, Efficiency Nova Scotia. Brendan taught a course in Energy Efficiency Policy in the School for Public Policy and Administration.
Brendan holds an undergraduate degree in economics from Dalhousie University and a Master鈥檚 in Environmental Studies from York University. He is a policy fellow with the Broadbent Institute and a research associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
