Yousra Nafie, MPPA

I came to �Ӱ�ԭ�� University from Egypt in 2016. I spent three years working as a visiting researcher in the department of economics at the University of Ottawa while completing my PhD in economics from Cairo University with a concentration on econometrics and macroeconomic policy. I currently work as an analyst at the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS).

I studied economics for my undergraduate and master’s degree, where I focused on environmental economics. My master’s thesis was on international climate change mitigation and sustainability of the energy sector. During this time, I also worked as a lecturer, teaching a variety of economics courses to undergraduate students.

With my interest in policy and public service work, I thought having a Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) would equip me with the required public policy experience through the exciting courses and the co-op option. Like many others, the opportunity to do a co-op in the Federal government attracted me to this program. Ashley-Dawn McKee, the program’s administrator, also impressed me with her kindness, helpfulness, responsiveness and support.

My passion apart from public policy and service is cooking and trying new recipes from international kitchens. I also enjoy exploring new places and being outside in nature. But, no matter what I do, every step smaller forward is a step closer.
