“Without a doubt my time at �Ӱ�ԭ�� set the stage for what since has been a productive and deeply fulfilling academic career. I came to �Ӱ�ԭ�� as a MA student nervous to return to academia after two years in the workforce. As a first-gen college student, I was coming to graduate school without mentorship and with absolutely no insight into the “hidden curriculum” of academia. �Ӱ�ԭ��’s Anthropology program, with its small class sizes and exceptionally supportive faculty and admin staff, were exactly what I needed to excel. I found that unlike other larger universities, the department at �Ӱ�ԭ�� treated their MA students like colleagues. With strong supervision from Jen Pylypa and additional exceptional mentorship from Blair Rutherford, I found confidence in myself as a scholar and producer of anthropological knowledge. I also strongly consider the fact that the department offers degrees in both sociology and anthropology one of its strengths. I came to the program unfamiliar with sociology but left with a deep appreciation of the discipline and, more broadly, for interdisciplinary research and writing.”
