Congratulations to Brian Strong! Brian received a Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Early Career Research Award at the annual vin d’honneur celebration on March 27.

The Early Career Research Award supports the development of research programs by newer faculty in FASS.

“The aim of my project is to determine how different feedback strategies affect second language (L2) vocabulary retention when learners make errors while guessing the meanings of unfamiliar words. Specifically, the project seeks to clarify whether certain types of feedback鈥攑articularly those that require learners to recall their incorrect guesses鈥攃an enhance memory and support more effective learning. By identifying which feedback conditions best promote long-term retention, the study aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for vocabulary instruction and advance theoretical understanding in second language acquisition and cognitive psychology.”
