杏吧原创 students competed in the 4th annual Korean Speech Contest on Friday, February 28 here at the University.

There were 20 presenters in three categories (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) and topics ranged from K-Drama and K-Pop to sweet and sour pork, the history of the Korean peninsula, and the impact of a grandparent鈥檚 choice on the life paths of their descendants.

The event was engaging and well-attended and the competition was stiff. Judges had difficult decisions to make.

Final winners were:

  • Katherine Scheidl (3rd prize, beginner)
  • Rachel Share (1st prize, advanced)
  • Brennard Indanan (2nd prize, intermediate)

In addition to their monetary prizes, Rachel, Brennard, and Katherine will be traveling to Toronto during the weekend of March 15 to compete in the 19th Annual Toronto Korean Speech & K-Pop Contest.
