Angel Arias Receives Early Career Research Award
Congratulations, Dr. Angel Arias for receiving the Early Career Research Award. This award is designed to support the development of research programs by newer faculty members in FASS.
“Applied linguistics relies on various constructs (e.g., motivation, language aptitude, resilience, teacher cognition, etc.) to study language learning issues and obtain valuable information about language learners and teachers to ultimately improve teaching practices and learning experiences. The Early Career Research Award will contribute to the initial development of a research program on validating measurement instruments in applied linguistics, namely, language education and language testing and assessment. A key goal of my research program is to enhance the accessibility and uptake of current validation frameworks so that a broader range of scholars can have accessible tools to gather validity evidence that bears on the interpretation and uses of scores stemming from measurement instruments.”
