Peter Coughlin

Peter Coughlin was awarded a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony on Thursday, June 9, “in recognition of his leadership in business development, architectural heritage and his volunteer service in the fields of health and education.”

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from �Ӱ�ԭ�� University (1975) and a M.B.A. from Western University (1979).

He started his business career in 1980 with the Canadian National Railway Pension Fund before moving to Cemp Investments. In 1987, he became senior vice-president of real estate investments for Cemp’s successor, Claridge Properties Inc., and was appointed president in 1991.

He co-founded Redbourne Properities Inc. in 1995. It manages a real estate portfolio in excess of five million square feet, including some of Montreal’s premium commercial buildings, such as Place Montreal Trust and Place du Parc.

He has served as board chair of Lower Canada College and the Montreal General Hospital Foundation. In 2010, he joined McGill’s Board of Governors.

Mr. Coughlin was on the organizing committee of Montreal’s Hockey Helps the Homeless.
