Emergency Notification System (ENS) Test Feb. 6
Feb. 5, 2013
Dear Members of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Community,
We are conducting a campus-wide test of ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´’s Emergency Notification System (ENS) on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
The ENS allows ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´’s Campus Safety Services to contact a mass number of people in the event of a campus-wide emergency that requires action by members of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ community. It uses three forms of communication to deliver instructional messages should an emergency occur:
* a computer lockout system,
* emails sent to @Connect and @ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´.ca accounts, and
* cellphone texts (you must register for this free service via ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Central).
Please note: ENS alerts are automatically sent to desk-top computers on campus and @Connect and @ email accounts. In order to receive the alerts by text message, you must register your cellphone number. To register, please log onto ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Central at:. Once you are in the main menu, go to “Campus Alerts.” When you first register, you must respond to a welcome text message that will come from 30000035. The reply is: JOIN CUTXT.
IMPORTANT: If you don’t respond to the welcome message, the system will consider you “not registered” and you will not receive ENS alerts.
Sincerely,
Allan Burns
Director, Campus Safety Services
