Take the COOP! ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´â€™s COOP program has a special place in my heart. It steered me towards furthering my goals and understanding more deeply my passions for the mind. While an undergraduate degree can feel broad and daunting – COOP really helped me narrow down my interests and I actually continued to work at my COOP placement for 5 years following my initial placement! My advice would be …. Just try it and you might find something you love.

Brief description of what I do!

While I previously worked in a private clinic, I currently, work publicly as a school-based Behaviour Analyst. I specialize in the application of evidence-based behavioural science to support positive academic, social, and emotional outcomes for students with diverse learning needs. Grounded in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), my work focuses on the systematic assessment of behaviour, data-driven decision making, and the implementation of individualized interventions designed to promote meaningful, measurable and safe progress.

I collaborate closely with students, educators, multidisciplinary teams, and families to conduct functional behavioural assessments, analyze data, develop individualized behaviour support plans, and monitor treatment effectiveness through ongoing data collection/progress evaluation. My practice is greatly influenced by scientific rigor, ethical practice, and collaborative problem-solving to create supportive learning environments that strengthen communication, self-regulation, adaptive functioning, and student independence/well-being.

I’m passionate about translating behavioural research into practical, sustainable strategies that improve student engagement, increase skill acquisition, and support long-term success within inclusive educational settings.

What inspired your career path after graduation?

Following my COOP placements with ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´. It was really clear to me that I wanted to work with people rather than behind the scenes in research (my original plan!) and help make a difference in not only their life but for their loved ones. Seeing the direct impact my work had on the families of the children I worked with really affirmed for me that this was something I was meant to do. It was also a field where I could marry my two interests; helping people and using evidence based research in my practice.

How did your experience in the psychology program shape your journey?

My undergrad in Cognitive Science really helped me explore my many interests in the field of not only psychology but human behaviour. The many perspectives of the brain and mind really opened me up to a world of possibilities in the field and had a direct impact on my career today.

What skills or experiences were most valuable after graduation?

Definitely scientific researching as well as a general work ethic. My undergrad gave me foundational knowledge to build off in my Masters there after and helped shape my opinions of human behaviour.

Do you have a favourite memory from your program at ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´?

I absolutely loved my Mystery’s of the Mind class with Jim Davies. His unique perspective on the mind really aligned with many of my interests and kelts me engaged.

What has been a highlight or proud moment in your career so far?

A highlight for me was definitely passing my board exam to get my license as Behaviour Analyst. The many many many years of hard work and studying really came together and I was able to just soak up all the hard work I put in to accomplish big things.
