Professor Stephen聽Azzi gave a presentation at the Walter Gordon Symposium on Public Policy at Massey College, Toronto. Part of a panel on foreign investment in the resource sector, Dr.聽Azzi called for improved clarity in Investment Canada’s review process. In his view, the objectives of Canadian policy are murky,聽the process lacks transparency, and there聽appear to be few if any consequences for foreign investors that break their promises to protect Canadian jobs.聽Dr.聽Azzi’s co-panellists were economists Jim Stanford of聽the Canadian Auto Workers and Daniel聽Schwanen of the C.D. Howe Institute.
