Canadian Research Institute for the Advancement of Women (CRIAW-ICREF)

I am currently a Research Associate with the Canadian Research Institute for the Advancement of Women (CRIAW-ICREF), the only national, bilingual feminist organization dedicated to research. Through CRIAW I’ve collaborated on many research projects advancing knowledge on how to do feminist intersectional analysis, how to engage marginalized community members to influence economic development decisions, and how changes to public services affect diverse groups of women.  Previously I worked for the Canadian Union of Public Employees as a researcher, educator, facilitator, strategic planner and managing director of national departments, often involved in a labour-university research alliance. A leave of absence allowed me to analyze the outcome of pay equity bargaining for Ontario Hospital workers while pursuing an MA at the Institute of Political Economy. I recently helped to get the IPE Work and Labour program off the ground and now chair the Advisory Board and teach the program’s core course (PECO 5002 – the Political Economy of Work and Labour). That course explores union strategies for solidarity within the changing nature of Canadian capitalism, the labour market and work.

My research interests include:
