Contract Instructor (CI) Opportunities in the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 Terms –聽 CLOSED
The Northern Studies Program invites applications from members of the CUPE 4600-2 bargaining unit and other interested persons to teach courses that will be offered during Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 terms. The specific courses requiring a CI are listed below, and course outlines are linked to the course IDs.
Qualifications
A Masters degree in Geography, or Environmental Studies, or another discipline, with research聽related to Canada and the North, is the minimum requirement to be considered for this position.聽 Previous work or research experience in the subject area is required; demonstrated evidence or potential for teaching excellence is required; previous teaching experience in the subject area will be considered an asset. 聽CI stipends are $8637 per 0.5 credit course.

Incumbency in any course
Note:聽15.3(a) of the CA: 鈥淲hen applying to classes for which they have incumbency, applicants shall not be required to (re)submit documentation beyond their updated CV.鈥

The modality of these courses is in-person, with no TA support. Anticipated enrolment: 5 students

Disciplinary perspectives on the biophysical, social, and policy environments of northern Canada. Resource development, devolution, local governance and sovereignty in a time of rapid environmental change. 聽Prerequisite: NRTH 5008.
NRTH 5001 [1.0 credit] 聽Northern and Arctic Issues
Research and evaluation using interdisciplinary perspectives on biophysical and social issues faced by northern Canadians. Topics to be considered will vary from year鈥恡o-year. Research activities may be in collaboration with northern agencies. 聽Prerequisite: NRTH 5000 or co鈥恟egistration in NRTH 5000.
