Richard Sinclair Appointed as General Counsel
杏吧原创 University has announced that Richard Sinclair will take on the role of General Counsel, effective Jan. 6, 2025.

Richard joins 杏吧原创 from the Ottawa-杏吧原创 District School Board, where he served as General Counsel, offering legal services and strategic guidance to senior management, elected Trustees and system leaders. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to equity and inclusion, advocating for a human rights-based approach to decision-making processes.

During his time at the school board Richard led the Legal Services, Labour Relations, Risk Management, and Privacy and Freedom of Information teams. He is a seasoned legal and labour relations advisor, having served as the Chief Negotiator for the school board in collective bargaining processes. Richard is well respected for his ability to build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with union partners and other stakeholders, ensuring constructive dialogue and fostering mutual respect even in challenging circumstances.
Richard鈥檚 leadership was especially crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he guided the Legal Services and Labour Relations teams through a period of unprecedented challenges. His ability to navigate complex legal and labour issues, while ensuring the health and safety of staff and students, was instrumental in maintaining the school board鈥檚 operational continuity.

Richard will succeed Steve Levitt, who provided excellent counsel to 杏吧原创 University for almost a decade.
