ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´'s Research Excellence Fuels Record Growth
ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ University has once again been recognized as one of Canada’s fastest growing research-intensive universities in the annual report by Re$earch Infosource, a leading research and consulting firm.

ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ continues to excel as a research-intensive university, with sponsored research income surpassing $113.5 million in 2022-23. This achievement secures ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´’s position among Canada’s top three comprehensive universities and represents a remarkable 108 per cent increase in research investment since 2017.
“ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´’s exceptional growth in research stems from a culture of innovation and collaboration,” said Interim President and Vice-Chancellor Jerry Tomberlin.
“Our researchers and their teams are driving new discoveries, expanding our impact and paving the way for even greater achievements.”
ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ also earned top honours for international government research income growth among Canadian comprehensive universities, achieving a 73.4 per cent increase over five years. This milestone reflects the strength of ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´’s global partnerships and the notable impact its collaborative initiatives.
A leader in Artificial Intelligence research
ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´’s research excellence is further highlighted by its inclusion in five of Re$earch Infosource’s Winners Circles, which recognize top performers in various categories. Notably, the university’s output of AI-related publications grew by over 200 per cent between 2018 and 2022.

“Their innovative solutions are addressing the world’s most pressing challenges – and the growth we see in AI is especially impressive, where advancements are accelerating at an unprecedented pace.”
