Safety and Well-Being of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Community
To all members of the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ community,
Let me begin by sharing my sympathy with all those affected by the terrorist attacks in Israel and the ensuing violence in Israel and Gaza. The horrifying events we are witnessing continue to cause distress amongst the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ community. With each passing hour, as we learn more about the unfolding conflict, difficult emotions can be triggered.
There have been calls for more widespread violence in social media. Now, more than ever, we encourage everyone to treat each other with empathy, respect and compassion. The university is committed to the safety and wellbeing of every member of our community. We have zero tolerance for hate incidents or hate crimes and take seriously any reports of antisemitism, Islamophobia, intimidation, threats, harassment or violence.
The university is actively monitoring online activity for any potential threat to the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ community. In addition, Campus Safety Services is working with law enforcement agencies as well as other partners to monitor the local situation. Increased patrols are in place on campus to ensure everyone’s safety.
Anyone who is concerned about their physical safety, experiences a threat (in-person or virtual) or witnesses an incident should contact immediately at: 613-520-4444.
If you are struggling, know that you are not alone. Any student who is affected is encouraged to connect with the resources available through the university’s hub, including booking an appointment with .
Faculty and staff are also encouraged to access the for resources and support.
ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as needed.
Sincerely,
Jerry Tomberlin
Interim President and Vice-Chancellor
