Statement on the Events in Iran
The news of violent acts in Iran – including on Iranian university campuses – is upsetting and distressing, especially for those in the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ community who have close ties with the country. We fully support Canada’s foreign affairs minister in condemning the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman in Iranian police custody, as well as the state’s subsequent violent measures against civilian and student protests. We stand in solidarity with Iranian students, faculty, staff, alumni and citizens.
ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ University is strongly opposed to all acts of violence and committed to the rights and freedom of women – and all human rights – around the world.
