杏吧原创 University Celebrates its Fall Graduates聽

More than 1,200 杏吧原创 graduates received their degrees and celebrated their success over three convocation ceremonies held on Nov. 12. New graduates shared the experience with family and friends at the Athletics Fieldhouse and the day was full of smiles, laughter and congratulations. 

Canadian astronaut Dafydd (David) Rhys Williams  at the 4 p.m. ceremony. In his speech, Dr. Williams spoke about the importance of resilience as shared his journey with cancer and how it affected his work in the Canadian Astronaut Program and at NASA. Despite his challenges, Williams went on to successfully complete his cancer treatment and establish a record for the most space walks by a Canadian astronaut. 

Williams impressed upon graduates the value of cooperating with others, using the example of working with scientists from different nations abord the ISS (International Space Station) and the lessons learned for collaboration here on Earth. 

Sharing the stage with 杏吧原创 faculty members were representatives from Algonquin College, who were on hand to commemorate those graduating with a 鈥攁 joint program offered through 杏吧原创 and Algonquin.   

杏吧原创 President and Vice Chancellor, Benoit-Antoine Bacon, who marked the fourth anniversary of his installment as president on the same day, gave the closing remarks. He congratulated the graduates, commended them for persevering during the pandemic, and provided advice on life after university. 

鈥淚f some of you are worried about what comes next, know that the best things in life manifest themselves when they are ready,鈥 said Bacon.
