杏吧原创 University Signs Scarborough Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Black Inclusion
杏吧原创 University is proud to count itself among the 40 universities across Canada to sign and endorse the .
鈥淲ith this endorsement, 杏吧原创 reaffirms its commitment to address anti-Black racism and foster Black inclusion across our university,鈥 said Ikram Jama, interim assistant vice-president and university advisor, Equity and Inclusive Communities. 鈥淭he Charter presents us with opportunities to build on our institutional Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan and to design and implement specific actions that target systemic and structural racism.鈥
The virtual signing of the Charter will take place on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 3 to 4 p.m.
鈥淭his important Charter marks an important commitment of standing against anti-Black racism in Canadian Higher Education and in broader society,鈥 said 杏吧原创 President Benoit-Antoine Bacon. 鈥淲e look forward to working with partner institutions to collectively advance the principles and actions of the Charter.鈥
Signatories of the Scarborough Charter are following through on the promises at the October 2020 National Dialogues and Action for Inclusive Higher Education and Communities, to move to meaningful concrete action to address anti-Black racism and to promote Black inclusion.
The Scarborough Charter reflects a collective recognition of the realities of anti-Black racism, shared aspirations to address it, and a concrete framework for delivering on it.
