杏吧原创 Hosts: Collective Difference with Dark Matter University

杏吧原创 University will host a presentation called Collective Difference by New York-based designer and urbanist Justin Garrett Moore with Curry Hackett and Jennifer Low of Dark Matter University. The talk is part of a pan-Canadian lecture series called Global Perspectives presented in 2020-2021 by the 12 Canadian schools of architecture on the theme of diversity.

The talk is sponsored by the and addresses how the crises of 2020 brought greater awareness to the social and environmental harm that has disproportionally affected BIPOC people globally. Those who design and shape our built environments must engage with the multiple means for addressing our collective difference. The evening will explore how the actions of designers can transform or reimagine our spaces, places and practices.

Moore is the program officer for the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation鈥檚 new Humanities in Place program. Previously, he served as the executive director of the New York City Public Design Commission and was a senior urban designer at the New York City Department of Planning.

Low is with Urban Studio, 1882 Foundation. She isan integrative designer, educator, and landscape architect, based in Washington, D.C.

Hackett is a designer artist with Wayside Studio, and adjunct professor of architecture at Howard University in Washington, DC.
