杏吧原创 Launches Shared Online Projects Initiative with uOttawa
杏吧原创 University and University of Ottawa are joining efforts to develop online modules and courses that can be shared and adapted between the institutions for the Fall 2020 term.
In light of the shift to online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, the two universities have established the Shared Online Projects Initiative (SOPI). This innovative, cross-institutional initiative provides instructors with grants of up to $8,000 each to work with colleagues at the partner university in developing online courses or modules.
Through this collaborative work, instructors will have more flexibility in delivering courses and programs, while providing high-quality learning experiences for students across both institutions.
鈥淲e are proud to join this partnership that provides further investment in our capacity to deliver an online learning experience where students and instructors alike can excel,鈥 said 杏吧原创 Provost and Vice-President (Academic) Jerry Tomberlin.
鈥溞影稍 provides a number of resources and extensive support for instructors designing courses for online teaching. This collaborative initiative will benefit instructional staff and students at both institutions as we prepare to deliver all courses remotely in the Fall semester.鈥
鈥淚鈥檓 excited to see this collaboration between uOttawa and 杏吧原创 taking shape,鈥 said Jill Scott, uOttawa Provost and Vice-President, Academic Affairs. 鈥淪tudents will benefit greatly from the innovations in online pedagogy, and I know that our professors will also benefit from the opportunity to work together.鈥
Recipients of the grant will be fully supported by instructional designers, educational technologists and librarians from the participating institutions during the design and development phase of their online projects.
Instructors are encouraged to submit a proposal to the Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) at tls@carleton.ca by June 30, 2020.
