National Day of Remembrance and Action on Mass Atrocities Youth Conference to take place at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´

ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University will host the seventh annual , organized by students and teachers from the Ottawa District School Board. The conference is supported by ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´â€™s Faculty of Public Affairs.

Bringing together 750 students and teachers, the conference will feature workshops on important topics, including Indigenous truths; Indigenous activism and cultural resilience; and building ​trust between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

When: April 23 and 24, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.

The conference will provide an opportunity to acknowledge Canada’s challenging history of cultural genocide and move beyond into new understandings. Students will hear from various Indigenous guests and non-Indigenous allies who will explain their work and perspectives on reconciliation.

Conference presenters include keynote speaker Rosanna Deerchild, host of CBC Radio One’s ​U²Ô°ù±ð²õ±ð°ù±¹±ð»å and First Words, artist and writer Jay Odjick, Crystal Semaganis of CBC’s ​Finding Cleo, entrepreneur Justin Holness and musical duo Twin Flames.
