ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ to Host Discussion on Canada’s Arctic and Northern Policy Framework

March 28, 2019

ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ University will host the symposium Breaking New Trail? Canada’s Arctic and Northern Policy Framework – From Rhetoric to Results – an interactive event featuring a keynote address, plenary discussions and stakeholder breakout groups.

This event is organized with the support of the governments of the Northwest Territories and Yukon.

When: Thursday, April 4, 2019 from noon to 4 p.m.
Where: Second Floor Conference Rooms, Richcraft Hall, ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´
Info: This event is free and open to the public. Registration is now closed.

Media are invited to attend the event.

Canada is working on a new Arctic and northern policy framework to establish priorities for a vibrant and sustainable North – the latest in a series of policies for the Canadian Arctic since the Cold War. The event will consider a wide range of issues in the region, including protecting the environment; the Arctic in a global context; infrastructure; strong and sustainable communities; and science and Indigenous knowledge.

This symposium will explore what is new about this framework and what it will take to get results. Northern government leaders, public service officials and academics will discuss the themes that have guided the framework’s development, the governance needed for successful implementation and how the public will know if the framework is delivering its intended benefits.
