ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ to Co-Host Stonecroft Contemporary Art Symposium

and Gallery of Université du Québec en Outaouais (GUQO) will co-host the two-day . The free public event features acclaimed contemporary artists from Canada and Europe.

Organized in conjunction with the exhibition Re: Working Together / Re: Travailler ensemble, the symposium brings together artists who make collaboration central to their work. Artists, moderators and attendees will together explore fostering successful exchanges between creators, communities and institutions, as well as how to think through diverse forms of collaboration.

Symposium Day One

When: Friday, Mar. 8, 2019 at 7 p.m.
Where: Auditorium Pavillon Lucien-Brault, 101 Saint-Jean-Bosco St., entrance door 11, Université du Québec en Outaouais, Gatineau

The first day of the symposium will feature the keynote address L’art n’a de sens que si partagé (Art makes sense only if shared) by Mélanie Bouteloup, director of Bétonsalon – an experimental contemporary art centre in Paris. The presentation will be in French, with simultaneous translation available.

Symposium Day Two  

When: Saturday, Mar. 9, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Where: ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University Art Gallery, St. Patrick’s Building, ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University, Ottawa

The symposium’s second day will host sessions featuring the Working Together artists, led by local catalysts who will moderate conversations. Discussions will be delivered in both English and French; there will not be simultaneous translation.

Symposium artists and moderators include Geneviève Cloutier, Redmond Entwistle, Hannah Jickling, Mikhail Karikis, Emmanuelle Léonard, Mique Michelle, Émilie Monnet, Catherine Nadon, Ahmet Öğüt, Helen Reed, Laura Taler and Kim Waldron.

The Stonecroft Foundation for the Arts promotes education in the visual arts and fosters the public’s appreciation of the arts.
