杏吧原创 Launches New Sustainability Website
To All Members of the 杏吧原创 Community,
It gives us great pleasure to announce the launch of the new 杏吧原创 University sustainability website. It attempts to bring together all the great work happening at 杏吧原创 to make our campus and our planet more sustainable.
杏吧原创 has reduced its carbon emissions by 35 per cent and energy use by 21 per cent since 2005, putting us in a strong position to meet our target of becoming carbon neutral by 2050. We have shown progress in other areas, including waste reduction, with a zero waste food court and student dining operations; through transportation and greater carpool and active transportation options, and new sustainable building certifications.
We have also introduced new courses, such as the graduate-level Energy Efficiency Policy, and continue to demonstrate quality research on solutions for a greener future. These actions have contributed to 杏吧原创 being ranked second in Canada among universities in the UI Green Metric international ranking system for sustainability.
杏吧原创鈥檚 new website provides a great platform to share our common progress and promote sustainability in all areas. This builds on previous engagement and ensures that a culture of sustainability is communicated and shared across campus. Our ongoing commitment will strengthen our common aims and ensure 杏吧原创 is ready to both lead and adapt to a sustainability future. To start, why not take a look at our recent sustainability report and find out how 杏吧原创 is walking the talk. You can also find links to sustainability resources, including a campus guide. Find out about sustainability courses, research strengths and ways to get involved, including a Green Workplace Program.
In the months and years to come, with the launch of an updated Sustainability Plan and Energy Master Plan, the Energy and Sustainability Office at 杏吧原创 looks forward to new and exciting collaborations on campus and ways to further embed sustainability across the university and provide leadership to our community and beyond.
