杏吧原创 University to Celebrate Launch of Unique Collaborative Indigenous Learning Bundles

November 27, 2018

杏吧原创 University鈥檚 Centre for Indigenous Initiatives, School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies and Educational Development Centre will host a celebration of the launch of 杏吧原创鈥檚 Collaborative Indigenous Learning Bundles.

Developed by Indigenous experts, these bundles are a unique teaching and learning resource that provide the basis for understanding Indigenous history and politics in Canada while prompting students to consider how this knowledge might be applied in their area of study.

The bundles are one aspect of 杏吧原创鈥檚 response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada鈥檚 recommendations on integrating Indigenous knowledge at Canadian post-secondary institutions.

When: Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 at 4 p.m.
Where: Ojigkwanong Centre, Room 228, Paterson Hall, 杏吧原创
Info: A campus map can be found online.

This event is full. However, media are invited to attend.

The topics of the bundles fit a range of courses and instructors are permitted to use up to two bundles per course.

Four bundles are already available for classroom use. Their topics are: The First Peoples: A Brief Overview; Decolonization is for Everyone: Identity Formation in the Canadian Context; Engaging with Indigenous Communities; and Indigenous Environmental Relations. Four more bundles are in development and additional bundles are under consideration.

The launch will feature a preview of the bundles and the opportunity to hear from the project co-ordinator, Prof. Kahente Horn-Miller. The event will include feedback from faculty members who are using the bundles in their classrooms.
