Shaking the Movers is youth-led and youth-driven workshop created by the Landon Pearson Centre. Using a rights鈥恇ased approach, it creates a space for young people to 鈥渉ave the floor鈥 on issues and provide their ideas, perspectives and concerns to decision-makers.
These perspectives will be incorporated into a research project about disability as experienced by children, the adults who support them and the professionals who work with them. Shaking the Movers will help inform assessments of accessibility issues that youth confront and how these barriers influence those in rural areas who are lacking resources. The project is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
