ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Music Ensemble to Ring in Chinese New Year with Concert
ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´â€™s Ottawa Transpacific Orchestra, a music student ensemble focusing on cross-cultural musical dialogue, will host a concert in celebration of the Chinese New Year. They will be joined onstage by Prof. Yuening Liu and the Jasmine Ensemble of the Central Conservatory of Music of Beijing, and Prof. Zhao Qun, professor of traditional Chinese opera at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, as well as ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Music faculty members James Wright and John Higney, among others.

The fusion ensemble blends the enchanting sounds of traditional Chinese instruments with musical idioms from the western jazz, pop and classical traditions. The performances are inspired by the ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´ Music students’ experiential learning trips to China in 2016 and 2017.
