Rebecca Cowal is a multi-faceted musician, educator, and emerging scholar who values integrated, holistic approaches to music education. She holds a Master of Arts in Music and Culture and a Bachelor of Music (Saxophone) from ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University. Rebecca has performed in Canada, Mexico, Ghana, and the United States, and as a saxophonist in the Ottawa Jazz Band, Parkdale Orchestra, Bytown Big Band, Glamour Profession, Raven Saxophone Quartet, and ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ University’s Jazz, Roots, Fusion, Choral, and West African Rhythm Ensembles. Rebecca is passionate about sharing her musical expertise, both as an individual instructor to middle- and high- school students at de la Salle francophone arts school, as well as a classroom instructor in various contexts. Rebecca is a collaborative musician and tap dancer with the Ottawa Rhythm Initiative and a woodwind specialist with OrKidstra. She places equity and inclusion as central components to a healthy music classroom, and approaches music education through a student-first ethic.
